When you cannot see shared folders or shared printers
To access shared folders
on other computers
or use shared printers, you need to be logged on to Microsoft Windows.
Before using the below procedure, do the following:
- Save any work in other programs, and close the programs.
- Make sure you are using the correct user account.
In Microsoft Windows, each user for a computer has a user account,
which has user-specific settings (for example, which programs appear on
the Windows Start menu). After you start Windows and log on, Windows uses
settings based on the user account.
- Have the correct user name and password for the user
account ready.
If needed, you can also print these instructions. Doing so allows you
to easily follow the steps. For information about printing a Help topic,
see Print Help topics.
To log on to Microsoft Windows
- In Microsoft Windows, click Start,
click Shut Down, and then click
Log Off <YourAccountName>.
When you log off from the computer, you close your user account but
the computer remains on (that is, the computer does not shut down).
- Log on, using the standard steps for your Windows
version.
For example, if you are using Microsoft Windows XP, click your user
account icon on the Welcome screen, and then type your password, if you
are prompted for it.
If you are using a network domain,
press CTRL+ALT+DEL, and then type your user name and password.
- Start Network Magic again.
- To verify that you can access the shared folders
you want, click Shared Folders.
